What to include in your listing

• Photos of the actual lot: a close-up and a wider shot of the bales, bundles or stack.
• Grade and code: for example ISRI code word, alloy and temper, or trade name, plus packing.
• Monthly capacity and location: buyers plan freight and continuity around these.
• Recovery %: Recovery is the metal you get back after melting scrap or dross. Agree how it will be checked, for example a trial melt on a sample, and how it affects the rate.
• Contamination: Iron, plastic, rubber, dirt and other metals reduce value and can spoil a melt. Agree an acceptable limit and how deductions will be made on arrival.
• Moisture / oil: Wet or oily scrap and turnings lose weight on melting and are a safety risk in the furnace. Agree a limit and whether material must be dried or de-oiled.
• Packing: Agree how material is bundled, strapped, palletised or wrapped, and how it is protected from moisture and damage in transit. Poor packing is a common cause of claims.
• Spectro report: A spectro (optical emission spectrometer) report shows the element-wise chemistry of a sample. Agree who draws the sample, from which part of the lot, and which lab result will settle a dispute.
