IngotAluminium Ingot Importers in India Verified importers · quotes in a working day
Primary aluminium is imported when landed prices beat domestic offers, typically from Gulf and other Asian smelters. Importers handle LME-linked pricing, customs duty, port clearance and quality requirements, then sell ex-warehouse or delivered to alloy makers, foundries and extruders.

About aluminium ingots
Primary aluminium comes straight from the smelter: P1020 (99.7%) and 99.5% ingots, sows and T-bars for alloy makers and foundries, plus deoxidiser notch bars, shots and cubes for steel plants. Buyers agree purity, iron and silicon, piece weight and packing.
Who buys it: Alloy ingot makers, die casters, gravity and sand foundries, extruders, rolling mills, cable makers and steel plants (for deoxidation) buy primary ingots, usually monthly against LME-linked pricing.
HSN code: usually 7601 10 (aluminium, not alloyed, unwrought). Confirm the exact code and duty with your customs broker.

What to agree with importers
- Al purity %: State the minimum aluminium content, for example 99.7% for P1020, and agree that it will be confirmed by spectro analysis on each lot.
- Chemical composition: List the alloy standard and the limits for key elements such as Si, Cu, Fe, Mg, Zn and Mn. Ask for a composition report with every lot and keep the right to test on arrival.
- Weight per piece: Agree the approximate weight of each ingot, sow or bundle so it suits your furnace charging and handling, and ask for a packing list with gross and net weights.
- Dimensions / tolerance: Write down the size and the allowed variation, for example thickness, width, diameter or length with plus and minus limits, and agree how they will be measured.
- Commercial terms: rate basis, GST, freight, payment terms, delivery schedule and quotation validity, all in writing before dispatch.
